Persuasion Essay
In the book persuasion, there are characters constantly being persuaded and persuading each other. Sometimes it can change the original intent of characters, or sometimes it doesn’t change anything except the timing. Anne Elliot, the main character in this book, was persuaded Lady Russell into not marrying her fiancé, Captain Wentworth. This could be seen as a flaw or as a strength. Coinciding with the persuading throughout the book, there seems to be two types of gentlemen, Sir Walter Elliot, vain and self-centered, and Captain Wentworth, well-mannered and kind. The book Persuasion makes the reader think about whether or not the concept of persuading others and being persuaded is a positive or negative concept.
The definition of persuade is to prevail on someone to do something, as by advising or urging. Throughout the book, decisions are being made because someone has been persuaded or has persuaded others into a decision. This concept of persuasion can be dangerous or helpful. Someone who has the ability to persuade has a kind of power and as with power comes great responsibility. Throughout the book, what comes out of the persuasion most often ends

This theme is shown from different characters either persuading someone or being persuaded. The author wanted the audience to think for themselves and decide whether or not the use of persuasion and the power that it has, is a positive or negative characteristic. With this power of persuasion comes great responsibility just like with any power. Along with the conflicting types of gentlemen throughout the book, many things are contrasting. So in conclusion, the use of persuasion throughout this book turns out to be mostly used for good. Even though it may have stalled things that should’ve happened or that needed to happen, it added a necessary element that happens, not only in the book, but also outside in
