1. The word persuasion turns some people off. What negative connotations can it have?
This definition of persuasion does not have a negative meaning, however, for some people, the word persuasion brings up images of manipulation or coercion, and the used in common speech it is often interpreted to mean intimidation or even extortion. The general feeling or is that someone or something is trying to get you to do something that you would not otherwise do. It is usually taken out of context.

In addition, companies use puffery to deliver an entertaining message about its product, compare the product to a similar item and, list facts about the product.
Puffery may be tacky but is not illegal and is a common method used in advertising. “The best pizza on town”, “The largest selection of electronics”, “The world’s juiciest hamburger” Rush Limbaugh claims to be “America’s anchorman.”
Sony’s Cyber-shot camera advertisement says, “Make time stand still.”
These are examples of puffery, these exaggerated claims cannot be proven, and have no credible evidence to support them.
The Federal Trade Commission points out, that a restaurant can compare itself to others, but it must tell the truth. Must be backed up with evidence or they could mean litigation.
On the other hand, when a marketing campaign had a lot of puffery in it and that made it seem less credible and less reliable, as many commercials that we watch on tv announcing those magical pills that cure everything.
Dr. Phil is for sure a good counselor, how can be proved that he is the “America’s most trusted relationship counselor.” That is hard to prove, and a good example of
