1359 Words6 Pages

Dog bites are one of the most common reasons that children visit the hospital a year (Walden). Many of these dogs have to be euthanized. Another study from Schwarz Kennels says that the increase in dog bites is actually caused by change in the public attitude. Schwarz Kennels also says that 40% of people are adopting or buying dogs for protection rather than companionship (Findley). If the owner also does not follow the safety precautions, they can be charged with manslaughter if they knew their dog was aggressive and didn’t notify anyone. They can also be charged with murder if the owner tells the dog to kill another person or if the dog is classified as a “deadly weapon” (“Dog Attack Criminal…”).
