Optimism; A small, eight letter word that can describe the whole world. It is a word that brings this world together. Optimism is the feeling we get when we’re hopeful, when we’re inspired, and when we’re just plain happy. But, attaining this feeling can be difficult in some circumstances, especially in our world today. It is believed that if we all could overcome these obstacles, our world could be a much happier place. Take 2016 for example. It’s been said that 2016 has been one of the worst years ever. There was the presidential election, there were terrorist attacks, racist shooting, and very many devastating celebrity deaths. Although those mentioned are very tragic, people tend to look on the negativities of last year, only. So many wonderful events took place! Yet, people still call 2016 ‘one of the worst years ever’ because they’re just looking at the negatives. Hillary election. Millions of people say that it was one of the worst elections in US history. Although this may be true, many citizens are saying this without even thinking of the positives of the election. It brought up issues that needed to be addressed; abuse, marriage equality, gun control, minimum wage, and other important issues. It also got children and teens into politics. It let them gain argumentative skills, they learned about the government and both political parties. Sure, the attitudes of the candidates weren’t the best; but, it got our youth interested in the government and politics, which is a very hard subject to take interest
