Have you ever thought about getting a class pet for your first grade class? If you are, I would recommend a hamster, a turtle or a goldfish. They’re three great class pets. None of these three are too distracting but can still entertain first graders. They all have their needs and requirements but they aren’t too hard to handle. I believe a hamster would be a nice class pet. Their diets are plants/greens that should be fed to them every other day. Which includes zucchini, shredded carrots, kale and collard greens. Turtles eat “Tetrafauna Reptotreat Gammarus 100% Natural Shrimp for aquatic Turtles, Newts and Frogs”, that cost 2.65$ at Petsmart. A turtle cost about 10$ to 25$ at Petco. The turtles habitat needs to have two thermometers one for the water side and the other for the dry side. You should wash your hands before and after touching your turtle. Interesting fact, turtles don’t like to be picked up by their legs. They grow around 8 to 10 inches long. Turtles live up to 15 to 25 years. They also live in semi aquatic environments. I think a turtle would be a enjoyable first grade class pet because they live up to about their 20s and could be a first grade class pet for a while, a turtle doesn’t cost that much and neither does their food. A turtle also isn’t that noisy so it can't really disturb the class
