This quote from “Brookings Paper: Is College a Good Investment” goes into detail about how college isn’t for everyone. By educators, parents, and authority figures telling graduating high school seniors that college is necessary, they are limiting the potential of that student’s true skills. College isn’t right for everyone and not everyone wants to go to college.
At (blog.uncollege.org) it says, “The cost of college has skyrocketed in recent years. Attending a decently ranked university can easily cost upwards of $100,000.” Some People thought of not spending money on college but to go skip and go straight forward into life. But what I’ve seen in the success of college, are things that you earn and get rewarded for and you live life way easier. There is more to it than just getting a great job and getting more money after you graduate from college.

Why People Should Not Go to College People should not go to college because is difficult to find out what career choice as a result of the inexperience and little information, the potential loans are overwhelming, and the huge necessity to start working immediately after school. In fact, many high school students go to college because it is expected of them, but that is not a good reason to go. If the students are facing pressure from their parents, friends, or teachers to attend college, but they do not feel ready. A person who wants to attend college should not take on such a large financial and time commitment just to please other people. College is expensive, and it does not make sense to spend money on a college degree if they are unsure of their path.
Why do our Governor and the law makers of Minnesota have control of our college education? Now colleges are trying to figure out what is causing the continual decline in enrollment of most age groups. The only age group that shows any amount of increase is the “Baby Boom Generation,” yet they are also finding it hard to return. Returning to school at this stage of life has a set of its own problems, like walking back into a classroom after a great number of years or feeling too old to be going through this altogether, not to mention the fear of misunderstanding the subject chosen in the first place. I Think the billions of dollars that is spent on wars and all the other things is wast of money, of offering free community college. After all we have a system that from Pre K to 12 grade that is free.
In high school, one learns certain skills they need to know for college and the real, outside world. High school is a time to enjoy time with friends as well as receive an education. Attending high school prepares one for college by teaching certain study skills in order to achieve superior grades. To receive a decent job and have a career, a high school education is paramount. While high school may not do an astounding job at preparing students for the real world, it does show them certain aspects of life they need to know to have the best quality of life possible.
The College Board inc. reports the average private institution charges 31,231 dollars per academic year; I’m not responsible for every college students' response to this amount, however, I don’t have a full time employment nor a savings account with that amount currently available. While the price of education is climbing, the value of a college degree is as well. Going into college you probably are thinking you will be invincible. No more parents telling you what to do and when to do it. No more having your decisions made for you, just complete freedom. You’re going to meet all new people who are going to be part of your new “home”, everything you have dreamed of since you started packing up for school. Even though all these things sound like they will be awesome, it will only be a matter of time before you start to miss everything you have ever known at home.
The world has changed in so many ways since the start of the 21st century. With the internet and mobile communication just within arm’s reach, new possibilities have opened up across the world. In this new world, education has become even more important. The United States, for example, and majority of the west for that matter has experienced its advantage in defense arenas erode, and economics. Although the United States continues to improve in these areas, there’s one category, we continue to fall behind in.
Just Breathe First year college students are never prepared for the world of shock that college brings. College is tough. In the freshman year, one will gain many friends and will possibly meet a girl/boy they choose to pursue and spend a lot of time with. Also, there is always so much going on at school, whether it’s a basketball game, a speaker is coming to talk at school, or a weeknight party.
Recent studies on adults who didn’t attend college show that ”Two-thirds of those who do not end up enrolling college believed during high school that college was in their futures, but realities like the high price of college often impeded this goal”(Rebecca Klein). In other words tuition costs, low GPAs, and the fear of college being to difficult, petrifies high school seniors into not even applying for colleges. Therefore colleges would benefit those scared to apply by lowering tuition costs and/or lowering standards. Regardless of your excuses to not go to college, you should want to better yourself and in doing that find college alternatives. In order to have a higher paying job, have your dream career, and have more job opportunities ,you should attend a college that you would benefit from.
