Alcoholism is a long term disease. Drinking alcohol is one of the biggest risk in the world for cancers. It has become a big problem in many of the countries. People drink alcohol for many different reasons. The most common substance is alcohol which is used in United State. It is legal for those who are 21 and older. Some people drinks in a depression and to relive stress. In many countries drinking age is 18. It caused brain damage, liver cancer, breast cancer, and health problems. It effects on person family. Some students who are in college think that the drinking age should be lowered, and they can control drinking. It can lead to sexually transmitted diseases. Others countries has lowered their drinking age. For instance, Germany has even lower drinking age at 18. On special occasion the mostly used substance is alcohol. Other countries teach younger kids so they can control it later in life. It’s a person choice to drink or not to drink. They can drink responsibly. When one is in a depression, they can over drink. Teens can make a right decision on their own. In 1980, the law passed in all 50 states, which has decreases the number of traffic deaths caused by young drivers. Raising the driving age hasn’t reduced binge drinking. Alcohol was almost banned in the United States from 1920 to 1933. “A 2009 study in The Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs found that between 1998 and 2005 the number of cases of alcohol poisoning deaths among 18 to 24-years-olds. American 18-year-olds have the right to vote, marry, buy guns and join the military. They're astute enough to defend their country, decide elected officials and serve on a jury -- but not regulate their own appetites? They deserve the chance to learn” (Gabrielle 3 and 4).
