What does it take to make a sport considered to be very dangerous? At each level of cheerleading, there are expectations and limits that each squad should follow. However, it is the level of difficulty that gives them the championships. At the same time, despite the level of difficulty that cheerleading requires, there are still people who do not consider cheerleading a sport. There are many controversies with cheerleading as a sport. Issues can range from the dangerous routines done by squads, routines and uniforms being too provocative and professional cheerleaders do not get paid how they should for their level of expertise. Cheerleading first came around in 1869 with an all-male pep club at Princeton University. From there, Thomas Peebles brought the fight songs to the football field where they became very popular. High school and college cheer teams first perform at school events, then train to perform at competitions. All-star cheer teams train for intense competitions and professional cheer teams perform at games and attend appearance events. Those cheer teams involved in competitions can go to a variety of competitions to win different types of awards. The highest achievement of cheerleading competitions is the Cheer World Championships, The Summit, that take place in Florida. Cheerleading teams from all over the world come to compete for the title of the best. There various ways to get to the Championships such as winning bids at cheer camps, competitions or placing at competitions and paying for the spot. In order to get a spot, the cheer team has to work on unique and difficult routines that follow a set guidelines for the group
