The minimum drinking age should not be lowered because it would result in an increase of hazardous situations. There is a strong relationship between alcohol sale outlets and alcohol related problems in an area. More specifically the relationship between the outlet location and violence in that area. If the minimum drinking age were to drop to 18, the number of people going to bars or other alcohol outlets would increase. This leads to a boost in alcohol outlets, which is a negative sign for an area. “In a study of Camden, New Jersey, neighborhoods with alcohol outlet density had more violent crime (including homicide, rape, assault, and robbery).” neighborhoods containing a high number of alcohol outlets attract young people that are vulnerable to being assaulted, and although one can argue that bars more supervised than a house or alley (with employees, police, bartenders, etc.), that doesn't save them from possible assault. Assaults are normally one on one in a bar of 100+ people, this dims the chance of saving that one person.
