In the year of 2015, it was reported that a total of 59 percent of high school students have drunk alcohol at least once in their lifetime. It was also reported that eight percent of that 59 has gotten behind the wheel of a vehicle. It is not difficult for teens to get alcohol in their possession. Teens also have this superman thinking that makes them believe that they can live forever with no harm done to them or nothing bad at all can come their way. Another thing is that teens believe that have the entitlement to everything, and that anything they want should be given to them. Young drivers are 17 times more likely to die in a car accident when they have a blood alcohol concentration of .08 percent or higher. Drunk driving is a serious problem in our world, it is nothing to joke around about and it is a threat to everybody regardless of everything. The D.A.R.E program is promoted heavily in school to prevent students from underage drinking and driving and present them with the information on how dangerous the situation actually is. People under the age of 21 who drink are more likely to have poor or failing grades. These people also have more encounters with unprotected sexual activity. Being that they are unaware of their surroundings when drinking they are more likely able to be a victim of sexual assault. They become more likely to abuse other drugs also which could lead to bigger problems. Underage drinkers have a higher chance of dying from alcohol poisoning. And another big one is that underage drinkers can be arrested for driving while drunk or are likely to be involved in alcohol-related car
