Books are a way of speech and by banning them is infringing on certain rights especially that of the First Amendment. Books are an extension of the the First Amendment as the ideas that are presented in books are a way of speech. If books are an extension of the freedom of speech it would be a violation of our rights. Our Founding Fathers have implied and intended that the use of books be included in the freedom of speech. The writer of the Declaration of Independence and third president Thomas said himself “I cannot live without books”. The Founding Fathers have meant that books be protected under First Amendment as they realized its importance. Books have the power to change someone’s opinion it can spark a revolution or quell an uprising they can change the course of history. …show more content…

In a study of books by www.bookshelf.wordpress.com said that several books that were banned have become bestsellers rendering the whole process of banning books useless. The reasons that books are banned can questionable and can be determined as useless since they prosper. An interview with a librarian shows that books that are banned have become more requested and known.
