Argentina population has been divided in two groups of people. Those who are in favor of legalizing abortion and those who are against it. Numerous arguments have been put on the table to debate. Therefore, it is pertinent to elucidate the main doubts in order to know why abortion should remain illegal.
To begin with, science has proven that life starts at conception. Scientists have reached an agreement about the beginning of life. Since the sperm fertilizes the egg, life begins. How it is possible?. From this union emerge the zygote, a bunch of genetic material that self divides itself to become a complex organism without mother’s help. Abortionist doctors warn about serious sequels left by this practice. It is well-known the more weeks of fetus development the more risky the surgical operation. Not to mention that surgical procedure are always dangerous in some extent. Equally important are the resulting psychic sequels. Ranging from depression, suicide attempts and even health relapses close to the date of the abortion. Submitting a woman to such a devastating practice is simply unjustifiable.
“Abortion is a matter of public health given the high mortality rates of poor women who practice it in the precarious conditions of clandestine centers” is probably the main argument of those in favor of filicide. Nevertheless, how it is possible to talk about public health while claiming to end a life?. Moreover, if the real problem is the unsanitary conditions of surreptitious abortion clinics, then the state should also guarantee better work environments to thieves, muggers and rapists exposed to injury from a violent victim or police action.
