If you’ve ever been in an animal shelter you have probably noticed that it is very overcrowded. This is because people are constantly neglecting animals and few laws have been passed to stop this. Have you ever been to a Circus and seen the animals perform happily? Well, it’s not always what it seems, the Circus animals are forced and abused into entertaining the public. Many people take advantage of other species using them to test the limits of human knowledge, for food, money, and sadly, for no reason at all. The laws pertaining to animal cruelty need to be stricter and greatly enforced to prevent the abuse of animals.
Many animals, such as dogs are bred purely for money and dog breeding can be very profitable. People breed dogs with no regard of their health, desperate for money. Examples of mass production are puppy mills, dog meat factories, and hoarding. Puppy mills are the mass production of puppies in deplorable conditions. Circus’ train exotic animals to do tricks unlike anyone has ever seen, but to do this isn’t as easy as it seems. They are training using extreme “discipline” such as whipping, hitting, poking, and shocked with electric prods. Roughly 96 percent of a Circus animal’s life is spend in cages or chains and for the majority of the year, the animal is forced to sleep, eat, and defecate in the same small box car. Since the animals live in such horrible conditions, some can contain diseases. Circus elephants can carry tuberculosis which can infect humans with the disease, and there are public records showing that elephants with the disease have been used in performances. Luckily, some Circus companies have already shut down due to low profit because people are starting to realize how the animals are
