That depressing moment when on the screen of the television, innocent animals appear that have been brutally abused by heartless humans. That sure puts a dampers the mood. It is unbelievable how this is tolerated and not taken seriously in the world today particularly in the United States. This needs to be changed by laying down the law. Animals should be treated with respect, they do not abuse humans intentionally so humans do not have the authority to hurt the innocent animals. It is hard to comprehend that the punishment for animal abuse is at times diminished and overlooked. Many people have heard horrific animal stories but yet take no action to help save these animals. This needs to come to an end. In fact today some Americans partake in the act of adopting animals who have had a rough past. Citizens of America go to the animal shelters to rescue these animals and give them a start to a new healthy life. The Animals should begin their life in a suitable habitat for the species whether pet, wild animal, or a food source. There are many instances where animals are abused and not reported to authorities. The difference between keeping a whale in a pool rather an ocean is incomparable. What a huge difference between the two, there is not a pool that can possibly give a whale the room it needs to happily live. “But criticism continues to build, with John Hargrove, an orca trainer for 14 years, claiming in a new book, "Beneath the Surface," that the conditions in which Sea World keeps orcas are inhumane and drives them to become aggressive”(Wood). Imagine being locked in a small place for a measurable amount on time. For example, on a long road trip in a small car with family and luggages. After a while it becomes claustrophobic. Now think how these whales must feel in these pools which, do not allow them the movement and freedom that they need. The people who run Seaworld wonder why these huge animals kill people. This can be caused because they are so restrained in this confined containers. Creatures of this size are not bred to be pets and live in captivity. Therefore this is a reason why whales are not seen living in lakes. Even though oceans have salt water, there could have been fresh water whales but the lakes are just too small. Lakes are not even big enough so how are whales suppose to survive in pools.
