The definition of a shelter is a place giving protection from bad weather or danger a place providing food accommodation for the homeless “an animal sanctuary” a shielded condition; protection Why do we even call “shelters” *hand motion* shelters when some kill innocent animals. So how could it be an animal sanctuary? Some animals don’t even get a good chance to find a new family, because there isn’t enough space in the shelter, and they are euthanized. Shelters should be a place that actually cares for animals, while they don’t have a home. It most definitely shouldn’t be a place where animals are killed because there’s not enough space.
During the Holocaust, 6 million Jews were killed in the span of 4 years and people are disgusted by that number. What they don’t know is that every day, 23,000,000 land animals are slaughtered for the industrial food chain. This is a huge problem in our society that is not dealt with nearly enough. The industrial food chain is a bad system for helpless animals to be put into. Animal slaughter is full of negative impacts.

This should be considered a violent crime, which is when the victim of the crime is either threatened or harmed by violence. However, animal abuse isn’t something that’s normally taken seriously in the courthouses, since America’s laws actually state that animals are considered property, instead of living creatures. This means that any abuse towards them is considered an infraction or low-leveled misdemeanor, punishable only by a small probation and a fine. In fact, a woman who had starved her dog, put him in a trash bag, then left him to die in a garbage disposal, only had a fine of $2,000 and a 180 day trial period. This is an outrageously low repercussion, and it won’t stop people from harming animals.
Abused dogs have a ton of issues that they face some are terrible and others are traumatizing. Of course they have been abused but that’s not the worst thing that they could’ve been through. The dog might have been starved half to death or close to death and now they might be aggressive towards food. This is a sad one harmed as is like stabbed, hit, cut, whipped, and more. A big issues that dogs face is that they’re going to have to live with their past, it might frighten them too.

Approximately 1 million animals are subjected to animal abuse yearly. It is such an awful thing and you would think that there would be pretty severe punishment for it. With 5 degrees of felony it is ranked #4, with #1 being the most severe I find it absurd that it is not taken more seriously. I feel that animal abuse laws should be much stricter. Majority of animals affected by animal abuse is dogs such loving and caring animals getting hurt is sad and just think of all the other animals that get abused.
Rights are against the use of force and they are our primary if not only our means of survival.
