In today’s society, people believe in many superstition. But in order to fully understand superstitions one must learn the roots of superstition and where it came from. The roots of superstition come from the Elizabethan era in Britain. We as people have a tendency to overlook how things came about. We also must learn in steps, or a process what made superstition such a huge component of how people lived in the Elizabethan era.

In the recent years, many farms have converted themselves to factory setting to accommodate inflating orders and sustaining larger profits. The animals suffered poorly for human’s tastes. Animals have to endure a lot of pain before they died. Moreover, companies must demand to regulate the amount of animals they produce. Since, “Workers at the Willmar Poultry Company—the country's largest turkey hatchery, producing 45 million birds a year—were filmed by HSUS undercover activists throwing sick, injured, and surplus birds into grinding machines while still alive” (Genoways).
Something I didn’t consider was the way they treat animals that literally feed the world. After watching the video I was shown, I was shocked and couldn’t believe the way they treated animals. It’s horrible the way people can do that to living animals with no hesitation. After watching and reading these facts about the conditions that animals are forced to endure on factory farms you might be displeased to learn that 99% of all of the meat that is sold in the United States comes from factory farms. The meat industry likes to portray to the consumers happy farm animals grazing in fields, having happy lives, and long futures: however, nothing could be further from the truth. Every second innocent animals are being sent to slaughterhouses to be killed in such cruel and inhumane ways. The torture that goes down in slaughterhouses is something the meat industry does not want the consumers to find out. Farm animals that go to slaughterhouses are beaten, broiled, and dismembered alive by impatient, careless workers. Employees at slaughterhouses need to be immediately stopped.
As Perdue grower Carole Morison claims, “The companies keep the farmers under their thumb because of the debt that the farmers have” (Food Inc 15:35-15:40). The profit of the farmers is below the cost of raising the poultry, the farmers are in debt with the bank due to demands to upgrade the animal’s sheds. The birds have no freedom, are kept in overcrowded sheds and suffer a strangling short life. The bird’s organs and bones are not able to keep up with their rapid growing bodies, as a result they become sick. As consumers, we should halt buying meat from such companies that do not treat their cause so much animals suffering.

Animals are being abused everyday and they are not taken into consideration when you see them being abused. They are suffering and they are being abused everyday and you all need to stop it. Animal cruelty is not something that just goes away the person doing it will keep doing it until someone stops them. We need to make sure none of our fellow classmates grow up to do these kind of things to animals.
