America is the greatest nation in the world; built on the foundation of the Constitution. The constitution protects the God-given rights such as freedom of speech and right to bear arms. The Second Amendment is an essential right that every individual should have. In case the government turns tyrannical, the general population will have a chance to oppose. I am pro-Second Amendment; However, I do not believe in finding all the solutions in firearms. The movement of arming the teachers with concealed weapons has gained significance moment in the last year. Some counties, districts, and states have passed legislation that allows teachers to be armed. I am against arming teachers with concealed weapons. Therefore, teachers should not be required or permitted to carry concealed weapons while teaching. Assume that teachers are trained and now required to carry a weapon on them while teaching. Is it safe to conclude that the brief training teachers received will help them yield the same results as police officers under fire or stress? Between 1998 and 2006, the average hit rate for shots fired by police officers was 18%, according to the New York Police Department (Downey). Police officers go through extensive training and have experience with high-risk and life-threatening situation; still "the evidence shows that they do not shoot accurately in a crisis encounter. It is likely that teachers would be far less effective" (Kirk). Teachers are average humans and are not experienced in life-threatening situations. Their likely response to a shooter would be "put your gun down, or I will shoot," instead of taking a shot without any warnings.
