Should guns be allowed in schools? Many school shootings have happened over the years. The question everyone started asking is should teachers be allowed to carry guns? The article edited by (Koone, 2014); talks about this specific issue. The issue that Koone discusses “Is There Support for Arming Teachers in Schools? Koone brings up school shootings that have happened in our country. For example the Columbine High School shooting; this is where 12 students and one teacher died. Another example would be the Red Lake High School shooting. At Red Lake five students and two staff members were killed. “When the most innocent, elementary school children, are the victims it feels even more tragic” (Koone, 2014, p. 165). During the year 1994 an act was passed. The act was known as the Gun free school act. This act imposed that a federal requirement for one year; stating expulsion from school. The National School Safety and Security Services (2013) wrote an article; talking about the issues that come with arming teachers. The article goes on to discuss the responsibility that comes with arming teachers. They say that the decision to arm teachers should be left up to professional school safety officials. The districts that have put into consideration to arm the teachers should think about liability. Many believe that teachers and school staff should not be armed. “Trump said he personally supports the Second Amendment and concealed carry laws, but believes that proposals to arm teachers and other school employees crosses the line of self-protection and protection of one’s family into a different level of tasking educators and school support staff to provide public safety, law enforcement functions for hundreds or thousands of individuals in a school” (National School Safety and Security Services,
