I think that one way to prevent school shootings is to train teachers and administrators maybe not to just able to shoot and carry a gun but to able to react right in these types of situations. However preventing is not the same thing as preparing. Because we can arm teachers and everything but if someone comes into the building with a gun and shoots it’s going to be labeled as a school shooting. So this means we may have been prepared but it wasn’t prevented. To prevent a school shooting we are going to do something outside the school.
Teachers could feel more comfortable in their classrooms if they knew they could protect themselves and their students from violent threats. Schools being a gun free zone are a target for violent
So by arming teachers this will give some fear in a potential shooters eyes versus a shooter knowing they can march into any school they want to and kill students and teachers without anyone putting up a fight until first responders getting to the
With reaction being defined by Merriam Webster as “to behave or change in a particular way when something happens, is said, etc.” If the police cannot be there to react to an attack that leaves only the school staff, including teachers. Hypothetically, a law is passed stating that teachers are allowed to carry guns in school. In a sick twisted world, the teacher becomes the school shooter. Your student is in class and their teacher pulls out their government funded school weapon and starts shooting. Resolutions are vehemently being sought to protect schools from possible attacks and to objectively eradicate deadly school shootings altogether. Additionally, active shooter drills routinely occur at schools across the nation, however, as Jillian Peterson and James Densley report in their CNN article titled, “The Usual Approach to School Security Isn’t Working,” studies indicate that
Your child could be caught up in the next school shooting, and be killed. If only your school cared enough for their students and had a security guard, they would have been able to prevent the whole thing. Schools today still need more security, but how much security they have today, and what more security can and will prevent. Schools need more security today, we can reduce how many people die to school shootings each
Over the past few weeks, arming teachers has been a controversial topic throughout the country. School shootings have taken the lives of many over the past few years, yet they are becoming more and more frequent. In today’s society children shouldn’t have to go to school worried if they are going to be safe that day. If teachers are armed it will add that extra bit of protection to the children.
