Charter schools vs. Public Schools
“. . . more than half of the charter schools in 41 urban districts outperformed their traditional public school counterparts in math and reading” (Karaim). Charter school have been an uprising new type of schooling. First founded in 1992, charter schools went “. . . from a single school in Minnesota in 1992 to more than 6,800 schools today . . .” (Karaim). They have grown exceptionally in the United States. Charter schools are different from your everyday public school. The teachers have much more freedom in their teaching, allowing them to fit the new material fit to each individual student’s needs. Charter schools provide a better education compared to public school because of their easily changeable environments.

“A 2015 study of charter schools in 41 urban school districts by the Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO) at Stanford University supports claims that many urban charters outperform their public school counterparts.9 Charter supporters also cite studies indicating that traditional schools that convert to charters often improve academic performance while receiving less money per student” (Karaim). This shows how the charter schools are outperforming the public schooling systems, even with less money than public school gets per student. Charter schools are setting aside the greed for money and instead replacing it with of the greed for success. Charter schooling are putting their students first and they are prospering. “In particular, they cite CREDO's 2015 analysis showing that more than half of the charter schools in 41 urban districts outperformed their traditional public school counterparts in math and reading” (Karaim). Charter schools are beating out public schooling’s rates. They are showing their competitors that with the correct changes being done to the environments, the students will be able to shine and show their best
