Parents would do anything to protect their children if they were to be in danger, when it comes to food this is a different story. Most parents think cereals, fruit snacks and happy meals are okay for their children to eat if only they knew what the food was doing to the little ones bodies. Most products parents’ feed their children contain many chemicals, artificial flavors, and other harmful substances that can be very impactful to the children because they are still growing and laying down a foundation of lifestyle food choices than can impact their lives very negatively. Due to the certain toy or cartoon character on food packaging can influence the children’s choice in food and leaving it up to the parent to say no or put it in the shopping cart. A study Incidence of Obesity Among Young US Children Living in Low-Income Families used 1.2 million children 0-23 months old, which were federally funded nutrition health programs. The results of the study were that the prevalence in obesity was significantly higher in the low-income families. Certain schools in the United States have a free school lunch program. When sending children to school, most people think they are protected but considering the food they eat has minimal nutritional value and can do more harm than good. Over 20% of the BMI increase in teens is associated with the consumption of school lunches. A spending bill towards and increase of healthier foods in school cafeterias was blocked due to food companies who make frozen pizza and potato growers.
