The controversial issue of climate change is the one of the most important issues to me, affecting not only myself and family, but the entire world as we know it for generations to come. I believe the issue of climate change is the single worst threat to humanity we face in the 21st century. Climate change has been proven by science to be real, and unfortunately our nation has not taken the necessary steps to combat and reverse the causes of such a threat to our way of life. As the greatest nation in the history of the world, I believe that we should be leading the march towards renewable energy and limit our carbon footprint so that our oceans can become less acidic and our weather more predictable.

Due to rising temperatures throughout the world Greenland along with Antarctica have been losing more ice then they recuperate causing ocean levels to rise at alarming rates. This has affected many coastal cities throughout the world like picturesque Venice, Italy, but more importantly it has threatened the entire way of life of island nations like the Republic of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean.
Climate change has been linked to the changing weather patterns throughout the world. Once fertile areas are becoming arid and dry, even the drought occurring in California is being linked to climate change. These changes have made it a lot harder to agriculturally produce food items to sustain the global demand, thus increasing deaths from hunger worldwide.
