List two of the myths that you found most interesting.
“Hurricanes aren’t linked to global warming” (Cook, 2016b).
“Volcanoes emit more CO2 than humans” (Cook, 2016b).

Outline what each myth is, and what the right answer to that question or item is.
“Hurricanes aren’t linked to global warming”- this myth states that global warming has no effect on hurricane activity. However, science explains that “warming increase hurricane intensity”(Cook, 2016c). While there is no certainty that global warming increases the frequency of hurricane activity, we can conclude, however, that warmer temperatures results in stronger hurricanes (Cook, 2016c).

“Volcanoes emit more CO2 than humans”- suggest that human contribution to CO2 gas emissions is significantly less, when compared to the amount emitted by volcanoes. However, science states that “humans emit 100 times more CO2 than volcanoes” (Cook, 2016a). Volcanoes only emit 1% of human CO2 emissions, which is 0.3 billion tonnes per year and 29 billion tonnes per year respectively (Cook, 2016b).

I had little knowledge on climate change and I once wrote a paper on Climate Change and drought in California. I did not realize how many things are affected by climate change and also the role that we, human being, play in the increase of global warming. 2015 was recorded the ‘Warmest Global Year on Record’ since 1880, (AccuWeather, 2016) and every year I hear people complaining that ‘this summer is hotter than last year’, and they say this every year. Climate change increases ocean temperature and sea levels. We have experienced more drought, which affects our vegetation, wildlife and water supply. We also face the risk of having more and more endangered species as a result of climate change. We can help by reducing our CO2 emissions, stop deforestation and protecting and rebuilding our
