College Isn’t for Everyone "By telling all young people that they should go to college no matter what, we are actually doing some of them a disservice" (Owen). This quote from “Brookings Paper: Is College a Good Investment” goes into detail about how college isn’t for everyone. By educators, parents, and authority figures telling graduating high school seniors that college is necessary, they are limiting the potential of that student’s true skills. College isn’t right for everyone and not everyone wants to go to college.
However, it is still an issue for students to cough up that money. The idea of making community college free to any student in America has been a dream for low income students for a while. President Obama’s desire to make the tuition of community college to everyone in the nation would only make it difficult for students to get a free education, limit them to essential resources, and discourage students from applying to four year universities. Granting free community college tuition to incoming freshmen will draw “more students to already crowded community colleges”. Along with the overcrowded campuses, a very long waiting list will soon form making it just as competitive to get into a four year university.

Reducing College Tuition College can either be a rude awakening for some students or it can be an opportunity for higher learning, but the goal is the same: to obtain a higher education and become successful. The purpose of college is to open people’s minds to new thoughts and ideas. Higher education offers knowledge and wisdom, but most of all, it offers experience, which is what people look for and desire when they think about attending college. Unfortunately, there is just one barrier keeping people from obtaining higher education, and that barrier is the price tag of college tuition.
A child does not typically think about their lives ahead. Although they may not think about it, it is still there. Life ahead means getting a job to make money for everything else and if one wants a good job in the future, then college is the best option. College education is worth it because it makes a person better and more educated, it is not as expensive as some think, and college pays for itself once there is a good job to pay for it.
College tuition The cost of going to college is getting ridiculous. If a student were to apply to an out of state public college in 1997 they would be paying on average $8,840; now at the same out of state public school they would be paying around $26,010. Are we expecting people who have little money to stop their education even if they want to keep going or be in a huge amount of debt? If colleges were tuition free or had minimized costs the economy would be better or could improve and so would the lives of millions of people.

Perhaps, working through college will not always cover all of a student's education expenses including books, supplies, room and board. If free tuition is given, students will have further time to educate themselves. Moreover, college tuition and prices are at an all-time high. Each year, prices are rising higher and higher.
We live a country that is great and prosperous. We have all the resources, the power to initiate change, and to acquire anything we desire. Anything is possible in the United States of America If the politicians will come together and work as one nation, not as democratic or republican but as one nation l,there will be resolution on the decisions we make. I Think the billions of dollars that is spent on wars and all the other things is wast of money, of offering free community college. After all we have a system that from Pre K to 12 grade that is free.
By entering into this privileged class we gain responsibly that surpasses our own lives. We now have the tools necessary to create change in this world and it is our duty to do such. With our college education we have the skill set to do just about anything with our lives; whether this is the freedom to change career paths, to go back to school for continued education, or even retire at 40 if we are incredibly successful. However, this is not the case for everyone.
The College Board inc. reports the average private institution charges 31,231 dollars per academic year; I’m not responsible for every college students' response to this amount, however, I don’t have a full time employment nor a savings account with that amount currently available. While the price of education is climbing, the value of a college degree is as well. College is known for being the place for a lot of things, but fitness is not one of them. When we think of college, we think of late-night pizza study sessions or going out to the student union to hang out and relax. All of this adds up, and the “Freshman 15” was dubbed for a reason! Students place health and fitness to the backburner because it’s not a natural part of college life as hanging out with friends on the quad, going to a free event, or a party. What if there was a way to allow students to see it as a natural and expected part college life?
Just Breathe First year college students are never prepared for the world of shock that college brings. College is tough. In the freshman year, one will gain many friends and will possibly meet a girl/boy they choose to pursue and spend a lot of time with. Also, there is always so much going on at school, whether it’s a basketball game, a speaker is coming to talk at school, or a weeknight party.
Since we were kids everybody was telling us how important it is to decide what we want to be when we grow up, but no one told us that it is no less important to start saving for college even before we decide on our profession. Higher education in America is too expensive. A lot of young people cannot afford to go to college and many of them who do go have a mountain of debt that they end up paying off for years after graduation. It’s almost impossible to study in a private university without having rich parents who are making six figures. Even public college requires a lot of expenses on tuition, books and other various materials.
