Evo Morales, the current president of Bolivia once said "Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans". Morales is referring to how carelessly us humans can fill the Earth with pollution and toxic wastes, and even worse, the apathy that acquiesces our minds on creating proactive solutions to make our world a cleaner place; there is a bigger picture here that is being painted though - what is it exactly that gives us a cause to be careless? I'm here to tell you today, that a unilateral openness to free trade is that infectious disease that will not only make Morales is a president, but also, a prophet. Free trade has proven itself time and time again that the only benefit it brings is just millions of dollars of profit for multinational corporations, and what remains of it is a pool of toxic wastes, pollution, and dumps that not only affect our planet, but the health of the neglected civilians who are victimized by this poorly structured system, as well as terrible working condition for employees in developing countries. …show more content…
Is it the host countries who's citizens are getting paid merely dollars for a day's worth of work? Or is it the corporation's country of origin that sells the product being made at a ridiculous amount of money more than what it cost to make? The answer seems to be very clear here. The more these corporations produce goods and services in lower developing countries, the more goods and services they have to transport back to the host country, which then translates into a greater quantity of damage that is placed onto the environment through the carbon emissions of the transport. If that wasn't clear enough, there is no
