In recent years, more and more states have been more lenient on the laws against the LGBT+ community. One law that continues to be a problem is the law that prohibits gay people from adopting children. All around the world, there are children waiting desperately in adoption centers and foster homes for someone to adopt and care for them. These kids cannot get adopted if there are laws preventing loving families from doing so. Prohibiting the adoption is a serious issue because kids need to be adopted, gay parents are just the same as straight parents, and they can provide the same love and care. One reason why gay people should be allowed to adopt is that adoption agencies and foster care systems are overflowing with children. “UCLA School of Law, estimates that the Florida ban kept 165 children in foster care, costing the state $2.5 million per year” (“Homosexuals should be allowed to adopt” 2).
