Competitive cheerleading has never been called a sport. There has been an ongoing debate as to if cheerleading fits the definition of a sport which is “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature” (Dictionary.com n.d.). By that definition you could interpret it to mean cheerleading is a sport, but there is much more to being a sport than meeting a definition. Competitive cheerleading does require specialized training, extensive practices, and a dedicated team; but to become a sport there are several problems that must be addressed. There is not a consistent set of competitions, no standard set of rules, and no regulations for judging.
Cheerleading should be a sport because of the requirements, definitions, and the dangers. You could go from point flyer to having to communicate by blinking an eye. Cheerleading meets the Woman’s Sport Foundation Requirements. One requirement is it must be a Physical activity which involves propelling a mass through space or overcoming the resistance of mass. Stunting, cheerleaders hold and throw other people into the air and push them up with their arms and legs.
The reason for this is almost 100 colleges in the US have gymnastics teams. Not only can you continue to do gymnastics and do what you love, you can even earn a helpful scholarship! As a result, if you go to college and get on the gymnastics team, you can make friends quickly because you have something in common with your teammates. Now if you take Simone Biles for instance, she trained so hard in gymnastics and got to go to the Olympics. Not only did she get to go to the Olympics, which is pretty dang hard to do, but she won 1st all around, floor, and vault!

Cheerleading isnt a sport but people are working really hard for other people to accept it as a sport. Cheerleading is an activity where you make a routine and perform it for points, and even win awards at competitions. When you perform you are against many teams in your division. Cheerleaders take a lot of time to train and prepare for the competition, also cheerleading is more physically demanding than other sports, lastly cheerleading meets all the requirements to be a sport.
What does it take to make a sport considered to be very dangerous? At each level of cheerleading, there are expectations and limits that each squad should follow. However, it is the level of difficulty that gives them the championships. At the same time, despite the level of difficulty that cheerleading requires, there are still people who do not consider cheerleading a sport. There are many controversies with cheerleading as a sport.

Nowadays, girls and boys start gymnastics training at a very young age and hope to someday go to the Olympics. However, are young boys and girls training too much at such an early age? Children training for gymnastics at an early age can develop eating disorders, injuries, and cause stress and anxiety at a later age.
Gymnastics is a very fun sport, but gymnasts also have to have a good education/grades. Does gymnastics increase or decrease your score on a math test?
