Homelessness is a big issue that the United States faces in every state. Homeless people are a significant issue and action needs to be taken to help those who are in need. People who are not employed can struggle to survive and support their family. Allowing homeless people to get jobs will allow them to earn income to afford housing, increase the unemployment rate, and decrease mental illness.
To begin, allowing the homeless to become employed will allow them to afford a house for themselves or their families. Harrison Berry, communications specialist at Boise State University, mentions “If we can offer them a little opportunity, we could really make their lives better” (5). By employers giving the homeless a chance at a job and allowing them to make a sustainable income they can afford housing to live a better life. Many homeless people struggle daily to find a way to survive. In the article, a homeless person who received a job opportunity expressed, “my own place, transportation, steady employment” (Berry 5). Giving the homeless more job opportunities to work for a better life is a wonderful way to lower the amount of homeless people in the United States. Allowing homeless people to have different job opportunities will allow them to receive an income to survive.

Natasha Slesnick is a college professor of Human Development and a licensed clinical psychologist. Slesnick added, “homeless youth often identify employment as a top priority” (248). Homeless youth seeking jobs to better their lives will increase the employment rate tremendously because of how many people suffer. In this article they create different studies and “despite the high likelihood of unemployment, homeless can obtain legal income from paid employment” (Slesnick 248). Having job opportunities can allow the homeless to make an income to survive and help the economy by filling more job
