Immigration has been a long standing debate in the United States for some time now. Every time you turn around it is the topic of many conversations or all over the media. Most people’s fears about illegal immigration stem from being misinformed. With the right kind of research, a person can grasp the facts about the effects immigrants have on the United States and the many difficulties they have to go through to become an actual citizen that leads them to become illegal in this country. It is stated that 10% of American births are to illegal mothers, I’m not surprised. Many illegals come here looking for a better life, and while yes they are in a country illegally, they still have lives to live, which include work, marriage, children, etc. They are people just like the natives who already live here. In reality, illegals are consumers, as we are, when they make money it is spent at other businesses on goods and services, which in turn increases wages. In a span of 16 years immigrants drove wages up by .6%, not a huge number but, still an increase. When they spend their money a business profits and that money then pays the business’s employees, which boost the economy. As far as taking our jobs, a study has shown that Americans are now working harder in schools because they fear they will lose said jobs to illegals. Talk about raising the standards of our society. There was also an uptick for employed women because illegal immigrants have produced a cheaper child care option.
