Illegal Immigration

Illegal immigration is one of the largest debates in the United States, and has been going on for quite some time. Plaguing both Democratic and Republican presidents and nominees, both sides have made strong comments and offered different solutions on the issue illegal immigration. Most recently, President Barack Obama has made his move on the issue by revealing his plans to grant amnesty to many of the illegal immigrants currently residing in our country. It has made this issue a hot topic for many residents of The United States. People are now voicing their opinions and asking whether illegal immigrants are affecting the unemployment rate among Americans.
The unemployment rate in the United States as of May 2015 is 5.5%. The ability for people to find employment and retain work is close to impossible. Many citizens and political figures believe that this statistic can be attributed to the illegal immigrants in our country that are working without reporting it and paying taxes. The high unemployment rate is not only a result of stressed market factors, but it has also been created-and prolonged-by our illegal immigration problem (Confer B, 2012). When dealing with illegal immigration, many of the challenges simply extend from a person’s lack of ethical behavior. In order to identify an illegal immigrant and therefore be able to enforce current immigration laws, the enforcing agency would be forced to profile an individual. This can be discriminatory and offensive. This brings up concerns with reference to racial discrimination and the boundaries one may have to cross to enforce the laws.
