Alexander Sanchez ERWC Period 4 September 28, 2014 Should Marijuana Be Legalized For Recreational Use Marijuana has been, in the past few years, talked about a lot more than usual because people want to know the advantages and disadvantages of smoking said marijuana. Recently, studies have shown that with the legalization of marijuana in more states, America puts a huge risk on their future generations well-being. Smoking marijuana puts people in a lot of different health risks and can be dangerous for everyone around those people as well. If America wants to improve it’s image, its going to need to keep people away from as many drugs as possible. Marijuana can be very harmful to it’s user with not only body problems, but mental and physical problems too. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, marijuana is also linked to school failure and can cause psychosis problems. Also the Office of National Drug Control Policy lists a range of very negative health consequences from marijuana like schizophrenia. A couple fourth grade children were caught selling pot to their classmates at their school in Colorado that they found from their grandparents. They see all the adults using it and being very happy that it was legalized, and they learn from that, thinking that it is alright for them if everyone else is doing it. Most kids learn from their parents or guardians about almost everything, like brushing their teeth every day and tying their shoes. So people using marijuana and happily glorifying their newly gained freedom, causes kids to think that it is okay if they do the same, because all their adult figures seem to see it right.
