Introduction Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United States. (Marijuana 2017, p-1). It is obtained from the hemp plant Cannabis Sativa and it is also a very debated topic in the United States. There is always an ongoing argument on whether it should be legalized or not. There are a huge number of misconceptions people have regarding this drug and the purpose is to clear all their misunderstandings about this drug which has a mixture of 400 chemicals and an overdose could cause extensive damage to human body. There is always a chaos surrounding the use of this drug as people do not have clarity whether marijuana is legal or not. So, basically, this chaotic situation is going out of hands. The biggest problem is being clueless about its use and effects. Many teenagers use it without knowing about its consequences. The youth sometimes gets involved with it for fun or sometimes under peer pressure. They are oblivious to the fact that the chemicals in this drug are carried throughout the body. Ignorance about its use can cause serious damage to the body and its long-time use can affect the brain development, memory, and learning functions. It can even cause vomiting, dizziness, hallucinations and the body’s other abilities deteriorate too. A research conducted has shown that teens using marijuana early, lost an average of eight IQ points between the age of 13 and 38. (Marijuana 2017, p-3) Along with all this, the inconsistency of laws is another hurdle in this ongoing process. It is very hard to test whether a person is under the influence of marijuana or not. Law officials do not have any clear way to determine whether a driver is too intoxicated to drive. It is not like alcohol that a person can give a breath test and it can be easily determined if he is drunk or not. In the case of marijuana, only a lab test can trace the amount of drug present
