Marijuana Marijuana is a very controversial thing in the United States today. Legalization of this drug has been a main topic in many courts for the past couple of years. Smoking Marijuana allows THC(Tetrahydrocannabinol, a brain altering chemical) in marijuana to pass from your lungs into your bloodstream and on to the organs throughout your entire body. The THC which stimulates a release of dopamine into the brain, and works on your brain cells much like a natural chemical in your body. The natural chemicals play a role in development of the brain and its functions. When the THC enters your system your brain now believes that enough of that chemical has been produced, so THC can cause problems with the development of the brain. I do not believe in the legalization of recreational marijuana. Marijuana has too many harmful effects to be used flagrantly on simple issues or simply for fun. Marijuana may be seen as being a safe and innocuous drug. As Kevin says,” Marijuana never killed anyone”. I do not believe this Marijuana leads to stupid decisions and can have many terrible effects on life. In short term use marijuana can alter senses leaving you confused. As I said before marijuana is harmful for the brain and stunts development. The human brain develops into the mid-twenties, so using marijuana as a teen or even an “adult” prevents this continued growth of your frontal lobe, causing a lack of logical decision making neurons in the brains of marijuana users. Marijuana can then cause a permanent loss of IQ points. Frequent users sometimes develop breathing problems. Smoking marijuana can lead to lung cancer. Just like it causes problems with the development of the brain it can also can development issues in unborn children. It may not just be your own health that you effect when you do this drug, it also effects the people around
