I don’t know what the LGBT community did to you, Mr. Brown, but I highly doubt it warrants denying them the basic rights of love. Merriam-Webster will tell you that marriage is, and I quote, “the state of being united as spouses in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law”. Those are the exact words. It doesn’t say anything about man and woman, husband and wife, or Mr and Mrs. It says “spouses”, which means they can be any gender as they as they plan on having a long-lasting, meaningful relationship--hopefully for ‘as long as they both shall live’. Tell me, Mr. Brown, why is it okay for a woman to marry five different times if she clearly doesn’t love the men she’s marrying? They knew that our young nation would need to grow and expand, and if our Constitution can change, then so can other fundamental pieces of our nation. Our society has adapted into a more--though not completely--accepting environment for the LGBT community. We’re slowly making our way to equality for all, but it’s people like you who are keeping this nation from being as great as it could be. I would think, that after all of the enraged people sending you “hate mail”, your eyes would have opened to a whole world of people who fight to have the same rights as you. You just keep brushing them aside to fulfill your own agenda. There must be some sick, sick satisfaction in that. But tell me, Mr. Brown, what’s the real gain here? You stop same-sex marriage and then… what? Do you get a shining medal for ruining lives? Do you get a prize for denying people rights? Do you think someone is going to give you a pat on the back?
