The government currently invests a large amount a money to prevent marijuana related crimes. Marijuana is not considered a getaway drug but it is considered dangerous as there are high crime rates in relation to possession because it is illegal. If marijuana was to be legalized, less people would be involved in crimes as it would be controlled properly through the government. If we take a look at Colorado’s status report of their crime rates we can see that their crime rates has decreased in a fair amount within only 1-2 years. It was mentioned that “Violent crime in Denver went down by 2.2% in the first 11 months of 2014”. It was also discussed that “burglaries in Denver decreased by 9.5% and overall property crime decreased by 8.2%”. Recently marijuana has been coming more popular for medical treatment across the world. Some people say that marijuana cause’s much harm to the body such as damage to the brain and lungs. Marijuana comes from a natural plant called Cannabis Hemp, which consist of the fried flowered tops, stems, leaves and seeds. There are plenty of ways to consume cannabis other than the plant itself, such as; through drinks, eatables, capsules, spray and oils. It has discussed said that cannabis expands the chance of lung cancer. A study was done in 2006 and there was no result in linking smoking cannabis and lung cancer.
