11 May 2017 minimum wage Imagine being in the position of a minimum wage family. Your children, not being fed good food and being bullied for their cheap clothes. And you, not being able to keep up with the bills to keep your family running. This should not continue. The minimum wage should be raised. No family, no matter the size, could live a healthy lifestyle being paid the minimum wage. When looking at minimum wage, the public needs to understand that we are putting families in danger of not being able to maintain a healthy family. “Someone working full-time at the federal minimum earns an annual paycheck of just $15,080-Which is under the poverty line for even a family of two” (Source 1). This research is showing any family working on the minimum wage is under the poverty line. The more people in the family that are not working, the harder it will get for them to care for all of the families’ needs. This study was also taken on someone who was working full-time, which many minimum wage jobs do not provide. That is just another problem with this system. And as we know, one problem can lead to another. Obesity is one of the factors because these families cannot afford healthier food their body needs, so they have to settle for fast-food.
