A five page paper that is due the next day. Frantically cramming for finals week. Applying to colleges while simultaneously trying to figure out how you’re going to afford the tuition. These inherent pressures that surround the time of our four years at high school is enough to make anyone go mad. Navigating all these sudden responsibilities is overwhelming for anybody, and it’s even more challenging when struggling to cope with mental illness. The symptoms that accompany mental afflictions often hinder the ability to ask for help, and when the stigma surrounding this matter is also heavily present, it makes it nearly impossible. In order to help those struggling to seek assistance and discuss this troublesome matter, our viewpoint and approach towards this subject must change.

They claim to support the policy of “No Child Left Behind”, yet ignore a child's needs if it interferes with the school’s academic standards. In order to ensure that this matter is being discussed, mandatory communal therapy sessions should be enforced. Much like a standard class period, a portion of the day should be allotted for students to discuss their everyday stresses and worries. A system that parallels grades will be created, with students judged on how much they share and improve, in order to ensure that everyone is getting the treatment they need. Those who do not share, for whatever reason, will be subjugated to whatever punishment the advisors see fit, and those who reveal a great deal shall be rewarded.
