Dogs. Fluffy, sweet, and just plain adorable. If you have a dog, you undoubtedly love it unconditionally. Now imagine that your dog didn’t have you and was stuck in a shelter somewhere. If you never came to it’s rescue it would be euthanized within a matter of weeks. An innocent dog, killed merely because there isn’t enough room. No-kill shelters should be the only shelters because they boost adoptions, improve morale of the staff and the dogs, and it saves dogs from getting killed for no reason. 84.7% of adoptions in 2012 came from no-kill shelters. Staff at the Maddie’s Fund Shelter said “We hear it every day. Adopters come into the shelter and say ‘I came to your facility to adopt because you don’t kill animals here.’” Others might argue that people would want to adopt from euthanizing shelters to save dogs from getting euthanized, and some do, but as I previously stated, the majority of adopters like to visit shelters that have a friendly, happier feel to them. …show more content…

The majority of people would prefer to be in a brighter environment than a gloomy one with devastating deaths hanging in the air. Most staff members, and especially volunteers, want to work at animal shelters to help the animals and find them homes, but working at euthanizing shelters brings the inevitability of killing/losing dogs the staff has become fond of, and that can be extremely upsetting. You might say that dogs don’t know that they are going to die eventually, and this may be true but it’s not proven. Dogs in shelters tend to become familiar with each other, even if they are held in isolated cages. When dogs start disappearing constantly, it’s sure to confuse and upset the remaining
