A person’s life can change in the matter of seconds at any given day, you never know when or how this could happen, or if it will be good or bad, but things like this happen all the time. Hearing news, about something you never expected is the worst type of news. When things are out of your hands, people go crazy, feel helpless and overwhelmed and most of the time don’t know how to react. In some situations, after the doctor gives you the news, he may suggest you go to a shared medical appointment so you can try and connect with people who have the same situations, relate to one another and share what works for them and what doesn’t. By doing this it can be a huge benefit to people with chronic disease. Shared medical appointment can be very beneficial and informative. They can take up to two hours but each of these group appointments include individual, one on one meetings that help them with their disease or illness specifically. Also they teach and counsel you and the group through American Academy of Family Physicians. By going to shared medical appointments they help improve clinical outcomes, help financially and have a higher rate at patients satisfaction at the end of the appointments. …show more content…
In the beginning it may be a little awkward and uncomfortable telling a room of strangers about your life, and what you have and how it's affecting you. But after a while, the more appointments you go to you may develope a friendship and a helping hand in your journey with your illness. By being around people with the same chronic disease helps you understand that person better and what their going through, in a way you get each other, you have a special connection with those people at the meeting that you can’t connect with someone outside those meetings because they don’t get
