The purpose of this work is to identify and examine evidence-based communication concepts in physical therapy, with an emphasis on addressing the difficulties that arise from social and cultural aspects of patient interactions. By having effective communication skills, you will ensure that therapists and patients are on the same page. This also helps with them getting better faster and staying on course with their recovery schedule. Communicating isn’t always with the patients, it’s with the workers around them too. Being able to have an effective conversation with coworkers can really have many benefits. Additionally, cultural competence allows physical therapists to personalize treatment plans to meet the specific needs and desires of each patient as individuals, keeping in mind their cultural background and personal values and beliefs. In the academic journal, “Cultural competence and reflective practice in physical therapy education,” by Mary L Romanello, she states, “An effective patient-centered approach to physical therapy practice requires an understanding of cultural competence where the therapist recognizes and acknowledges the patient’s perspective, then incorporates the patient’s perspective in the treatment plan.” This scholarly study is about qualitative research aimed at understanding the diversity of cultural competence and reflective practice in physical therapy education.
