- In my field as a Physiotherapist with a passion for cultural liaison, I believe I am an ideal nominee for the position of 'Cultural Liaison' within NSW's various health services. Through my education and work experience I am equipped with the necessary expertise to provide evidence-based care, I have developed strong cultural competence interpersonal skills and cultural awareness that enable me to form meaningful relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds and environments, including Aborigines, immigrants, and LGBT. Indigenous communities often face social and economic inequalities that contribute to health disparities. Moreover, social determinants are closely related to human rights because they can affect an individual's health and access to health services. So is the importance of acknowledging and respecting the patient's cultural beliefs, values, and practices. In NSW, addressing social determinants and promoting human rights and cultural literacy are key to improving individual and community health. Addressing social determinants such as poverty and education can improve access to healthcare and reduce health inequalities leading to increased engagement, trust and communication between indigenous healthcare providers and patients. In addition, promoting human rights and cultural literacy helps build trust between healthcare providers and patients. As a physical therapist, I am committed to addressing social determinants that promote human rights, and to practicing cultural competencies in clinical practice to achieve the best possible health outcomes for patients.-Cultural safety is about creating an environment that respects and embraces the cultural needs and backgrounds of all patients and clients, leading to better health outcomes.
