As someone who’s spent 3 years in HISD schools, I believe I can say that HISD is definitely not perfect. There are many problems and rules that need to be revised and fixed. Today I will be discussing the worst problems with HISD since the other problems are just nitpicks and if I were to mention them I would come off as petty, and I’m sure most of them are at my school only. So let’s get started shall we?
My first topic will be about the standardized testing. No one truly cares about the students skill, but the teachers skill in forcing children to memorize how to calculate prime in geometry. I wish to ask everyone in this room, what is 4/3pi6 squared by 3, what is the volume? You don’t know? That 's what I have to memorize to be tested on

Why do countries with no homework have more intelligent students? Because they don’t have hundreds of papers to finish each year. Children have become depressed do to the expectations society has on them to get a hundred on a scrap of paper. The stress and pressure to complete homework is the most absurd thing next to a rock saying they aren’t a solid. Yet adults think children are just complaining for attention, or are lazy. Many things can lead a child to lose all motivation to do homework. One of them is the piles of papers we get each day, knowing that it won’t even matter, and that HISD is too focused on getting money to care about your education. “Homework is supposed to let you get better grades, and to see if you know the material.” Children don’t learn from homework, it is literally just an easier version of a short test. Kids learn better when having fun, getting a piece of paper to do at home is not fun. Going to work is not fun, and doing homework is not fun. A solution to this problem would be to play games with the student and ask them questions to certain topics and/or questions. This way the teacher can grade the student on participation, you could also have the teachers speak about the subject in a fun and exciting way to grab the students attention. Something I’ve noticed with my best teachers is that they actually make me want to pay attention and learn, they laugh and speak to me like I’m …show more content…
The problem with the school lunches is that they try to make it sound good on the school menu, but fail cause anyone with eyes and taste buds would know how bad the food truly is. “School lunches are healthy, the only reason most students don’t eat the school lunch because it is healthy, and are not used to it.” I’d like ask to this simple question, would you eat food that is burnt, cold, slimy, and disgusting? I’ve eaten burgers that are burnt, and cold. The chicken legs is all slimy and rubbery. The asian noodles taste terrible, and the buns are all cold, and the spicy chicken is cold. I have also been served burnt kolaches, cheese that has dried. Meat that is pink and raw, and I have found a piece of plastic once in my breakfast sandwich at school. The vegetables don’t taste good either. The carrots are tasteless and have no flavour, and have no spices on them. This happens with most of the vegetables at schools in our school lunch. The health conditions are also very bad, the walls and floors of the kitchen look dirty, and I have killed many roaches before in my years at Lanier. I have even found rat traps in my schools gym. Which is right next to my cafeteria. Another problem with the food that they sell from domino’s pizza is absurdly expensive. A large hand tossed pizza at dominos is only $9.99,but HISD sells a single pizza slice for $2.00. Which makes so little sense since there are usually 8 slices per pizza box. 2x8 is 16. Meaning
