Imagine a world where homework was not given out by educators. Kids would not only love this, but there would be so many benefits to it. Homework takes too much time out of kids lives. It also causes anxiety for students and it’s not healthy either. Therefore, homework is not beneficial for students and it should be banned in schools. First of all, homework takes too much time out of kids lives. Many kids have extra curricular activities to do after school. A principal from an Elementary school even said, “We want them to enjoy their families. We want them to go to soccer practice or football practice, and we want them to go to bed. They say that it teaches them time management, responsibility and strategy skills. School assignments can help develop a sense of time management. When you have other extracurricular activities going on and homework it's hard to fit it all in, so you have to learn to manage your time. Also, you learn a lot of responsibility from doing homework assignments. You have to remember to finish it when you get home from school and also remember to put it back into your backpack and not forget it at home. In addition, children need to have good study strategy skills. It helps if they know a variety of strategies such as rewriting, drawing, memorizing aloud and using flash cards. This will help them develop memory skills that they will use all throughout schooling. While this may be true, kids can learn these skills in other ways. One way you can learn time management is creating a family calendar. This will help you schedule things on different days, so you won’t have to cram in so many activities each day. In addition, when kids learn to take care of their things, they also learn to be responsible for their actions. A good way to teach responsibility for your kids actions is by disciplining them. For example, to get your son to clean up after an art project, inform him that he won't be able to play with his crayons and scissors until the next day if he leaves a messy table.
