Why We Shouldn’t Have A Dress Code? Students should be able to wear whatever kind of cloths they want to school because its freedom of expression. There shouldn’t be a dress code mainly because some people can’t afford the clothes the school wants the students to wear. Then there parents would have to worry about there kids getting in trouble at school. The kids should be able to dress the way they want and not have to worry about buying clothes you can’t even wear to school.
Sean, wearing a plain red t-shirt, gray beanie, and kaki’s made his way up to the front of the room to ask the teacher, my mentor, about how to insert the photos into the program he was using to design the yearbook. The teacher turned to Sean and took notice of the beanie he was wearing and asked him to remove it from his head and put it away without explanation as to why it was against dress code. Sean removed his hat, but set it on the table rather than putting it away with his belongings. The teacher took notice but didn’t push the issue any further, seemingly content that the hat was removed from his head. I continued to sit quietly and take note of the observation, curious as to if the teacher would revisit the student on his compliance,
School Dress codes do not allow students to completely express their individuality. Schools want students to be able to think for themselves and create a sense of who they are, but it is not easy when they are forced to abide by rules that take away from from that. It should be a place of expressing ourselves freely in a learning environment without having to worry about what we wear as an interfering issue. The fact that the school system cares more about the student dress code than their education is an issue in itself. Schools should promote dress code individuality because of religious aspects, mental health, and human experience.

Teens should be able to wear clothes they want and not what the schools want. In the first place, teens should be able to express themselves in many ways. Having a dress code makes it so teens can’t fully express themselves through their clothes. Now people can and do express themselves many different ways but you can tell a lot from a person just from the way they dress.
Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. School uniforms, school uniforms have been debated among the states with tons of studies that say they help with school issues and other studies that contradict school uniforms have no significant change. In order to save money schools shouldn’t be adding more costs to school, school should be cheaper, its fundamental to all kids to learn and not for the parents to be spending more money on school uniforms especially with families on a tight budget. The issue of school uniforms has been around 1969 ever since the US Supreme Court issued a law that kids could protest if it wasn’t disruptive. Bill Clinton also supported this because he didn’t want to see kids fight over expensive clothing.

Many high schools have implemented dress codes that set rules for what students can and cannot wear while on school premises, and yet many people disagree with these policies. Though arguments can be made for either side, a dress code can have a very positive outcome for all parties involved. A fixed dress code promotes professionalism in a learning environment, and contrary to popular belief, it does not limit a student’s freedom of expression. Last but not least it encourages equality and acceptance among their peers. A dress code can be reasonable if used in proper situations that require certain attires.
