Homework should be banned in the United States. Homework isn 't always bad. But one reason that it is bad is that there is a lot of stress that is brought on by homework. Also it takes away quality family and time to do things outside of school. Lastly it doesn’t allow children to play and develop.
The first attempt and success to climb Mt. Everest occured in 1953. Since then, almost 4,000 people have been able to scale the mountain, but over 230 people have not been able to climb it successfully. There is a chance of accident or death when climbing this mountain or any dangerous activity. All people should should have the right to rescue services even if they knowingly put themselves at risk because there is always a chance of an accident happening, rangers are there to save people in danger, and there are rescue vehicles being produced to be used in case of an emergency.
Kids already have 7 hours of school and go home at 3:30 with stacks of homework, the point where they can’t focus on finishing. Researcher Clifton B. Parker from Stanford University has proved that 56% of children get stressed from too much homework. I believe that kids have too much stress since I am a student and have too much stress on doing homework. Secondly, homework gives kids less time to play.
Some parents won't have to come home and stop what they are doing to help their kids with their math, reading, or english homework. Most parents have not had school in so many years that they are afraid to check over their kids homework to see if it is right, because they might get it wrong. But this does not mean that they should be given endless stacks of homework. By this, I mean when they are given a lot of homework for the next day, the student will gets upset and do not want to go to school because he doesn 't want punishment for what he couldn 't do. This is my personal opinion. Homework is a never-ending conflict at school, the students want less homework but the teachers have to give them the homework, so they can study at home. Lastly, I would say a student needs time to learn but also time to play and relax and to enjoy life with his family and
Should kids have homework? No, because homework is a waste of time. Homework for a middle schooler is and average one hour. For a high schooler homework is an average two to three hours a day. Homework wastes meterials on a day to day basis.
If homework was eliminated then students might have a more positive attitude towards school. This would cause students to perform better academically since they think of school in positive ways and want to excelle. Students behavior would be confident and positive. Teachers would benefit from this since they would not have to worry about students being disrespectful or students not doing their homework. Students spend more than 100 hours of extra time in school, but the US is still falling behind in global rankings (Vittana).
Down with Homework I agree with Alfie Kohn, when he states the strain that enormous amount of homework causes. But I disagree with his opinion in completely eliminating homework. We cannot eliminate homework because that will destroy the bridge that keeps students connected to their books after they leave school. I do however agree with Kohn in the recent, increase in homework children are getting.
Why Students Shouldn’t Have Homework There are around 365 days in a year, and in a school year, there are around 180 days. From the beginning of the school year to the end, the most common thing that students least like, is homework. Coming home after a long day of school, then having responsibilities to do at home, not to mention some students have after school activities which take up around 2 hours if not more. Homework for students is a barrier that makes it difficult for them to have any kind of social life, or spend time with their family. There are many reasons why students shouldn’t have homework, during this essay people will learn why having homework isn’t helping the student, except making things more difficult for them.
Sounds like an ideal afternoon right? If only all schools never gave homework. Homework is used in a lot of countries and in others there isn’t any. While homework gives benefits to students, unnecessary homework should not be assigned due to the fact that there are enough school hours, it consumes time, and the development of poor health is encouraged.
Sounds familiar, right? But, what would happen if the school day was longer, and there was less homework? Students need a longer school day with less homework because it reduces stress in students and adults, provides better ways to learn, and homework provides little benefit. Many may believe that homework provides a way to practice skills learned at school.
Everyone goes to school, everyone has homework. Homework has been a topic of interest for a very long time. Many students think that homework is not beneficial. However, without homework people wouldn’t remember what they learned in class. Homework gives kids the chance to prove what they have learned.
Above all, homework allows the students to gain responsibility, time-management, perseverance, and self-esteem. “The act of completing homework has benefits in terms of developing good habits in students.” This shows that, students are gaining many skills from homework. This also shows that, homework isn’t a waste of time and students do benefit from homework. “Homework also teaches students how to problem solve, think independently, and build an understanding and interest for the issues in our society.”
