We as Americans can say that we are proud of what we have fought for and achieved. Years ago, oppression of self law and liberties constrained us from being the free men and women we are today. Though we see good in the change, there must be order to the new chaos we have witnessed. We fought as a Union to gain this freedom, yet we act as distant siblings traveling in their own direction. This is why we must formulate a new government, a government for the people, by the people.
It is a lively time. A time for change, a change for the better. A time to unite our divided country once again. We are a nation. A nation based on freedom and justice for all.

Australia Day is one of the most unique national day’s in the world throughout history, celebrating the day of when our ancestors first arrived on the borders of Australia, in 1788. Rather than unite people as one whole though, the spirited outcome of this event isn’t what as anticipated by everyone and has divided the Australian society for good. And so it should be held at an alternative date, where Australian citizens feel worthy of their identity and not cheated by it. However, the celebration shouldn’t be adapted to like that of other commemorations like ANZAC day. Essentially, this day will always be a tragic memory for the indigenous and be viewed as the invasion of their homeland.

Recently the highly contended date of Australia Day has been garnering much media attention after the town of Fremantle was the first in Australia to officially call off the celebrations that occur annually on the 26th of January. With heated debate both condemning, and supporting, this controversial move, public scrutiny of the date of Australia day has never been higher. Supporters of the move argue that having Australia day on a date associated with genocide and murder is insulting to all Australians, and prevents people from joining in on the festivities. Others condemn the move, arguing that the 26th of January is the traditional date of Australia Day and that it is merely a patriotic celebration for our home land.

As many of you know, Michelle Obama has recently won the 2020 presidential election and has put a lot of thought into deciding who will replace Betsy Devos as the new secretary of education. We are here today because we all care about the future of the education department and what actions will be taken to improve it. When Mrs. Obama was deciding who to trust with a task so important, a lot needed to be taken into consideration.
