Ladies and gentlemen We are gathered here today to discuss a critical issue that has been plaguing our society for far too long - police brutality. The use of excessive force by law enforcement officers has resulted in the loss of countless innocent lives, and it is high time that we take action to put an end to this injustice. The police are meant to serve and protect the public, but when their actions cause harm and violence, it is clear that something has gone wrong. We cannot continue to act as if the police aren’t causing problems from police brutality; we must confront it head-on and demand accountability for those who carry out these acts. One of the main issues is the lack of training and education for law enforcement officers. Police officers need to be trained in different types of techniques, conflict resolution, and cultural sensitivity to better understand the communities they serve. This will help to reduce tensions between the police and the public and prevent unnecessary violence. We also need to address the structural racism that has long been inserted in many police departments. This means acknowledging and confronting the favoritism and harm that exist within law enforcement and working to eliminate them. It means hiring more officers from various backgrounds and ensuring that they receive the same level of training and support as their copartners. It's not always about the police we, as a society, need to do our part as well. We need to work towards ending the shame surrounding mental health issues and addiction, which are often the source of many interactions between police and the public. We need to invest in education and social services to provide people with the tools and resources they need to succeed and thrive.
