After reading GCU’s doctrinal statement, Four Pillars and Christian Worldview, I think GCU faith based university is one that many people can be inspired by. This university not only strives to have academic success but it strives for academic success through Jesus Christ and faith. GCU has a biblically rooted mission and having Christ in all that you do is important to the university. The difference between GCU’s academic experience and a non-faith-based university is that there is more than one religious faith in the university compared to GCU Christian based.
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” This command, given by Jesus’ in Mark 12:31, tells everybody love others just as much as themselves. David Malter, a very Christ-like character from The Chosen, by Chaim Potok, puts this command into practice. He exemplifies many of Jesus’ most valuable character-traits. Although Mr. Malter does not believe that Jesus is the Messiah, he still follows many of his commands without even knowing it.
“True faith means holding nothing back. It means putting every hope in God’s fidelity to His Promises. -Fancis Chan” (Reader’s Digest) Starting in around 30CE, Christianity spread throughout the ancient Roman Empire. As the religion grew, Christianity became one of the most prominent religions in the Roman Empire.
1. Jesus told his apostles to love their enemies and treat others well even if they don’t do the same; he told them to do what they would want done to them. If they expect nothing in return, they will be rewarded and be seen good in the eyes of God. Jesus was teaching compassion and selflessness. This parable is the origin of the saying “Treat others how you want to be treated.”
Rather, in humility value others above yourselves” this verse also says that you are to be humble and do everything with a kind heart. It also says that you should be valuing others more than you are valuing yourself. Psalm 37:5 reads “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this”. This verse states that if we trust in God, he will help us do what is difficult in our lives. God has used many different people to be leaders.
Christianity is a very important religion that is practiced by almost a third of the world’s population today. So why was this religion able to grow so much during ancient times? Inspired by Jesus Christ over two thousand years ago, Christianity faced several barriers along its road to prevalence in the world. During his lifetime, Jesus preached the Word of God until Roman officials felt threatened and eventually crucified him. After his death, however, Jesus’ apostles kept up his legacy and continued to preach God’s Word.
The book that called Psychology & Christianity: Five Views by Johnson, one book that links between Christians with psychology. Firstly, the book will described the history of the influence of Christian in psychology. In this book they explain that the Christian and psychology has a big influence. The books that I read, is written by several authors. The author must write the view and their views on how Christians should practice psychology.
In David Christian’s World History in Context” he talks about several forms of spatial and temporal scales. First Christian discusses the Ptolemaic system a spatial scale from medieval Europe. They believed that “ the earth was at the center of a series of transparent spheres” ( pg. 2 ). The people of medieval Europe also believed each sphere has its own solar system with stars, planets, and sun, and they all orbit around Earth. It wasn’t until Copernicus in the sixteenth century that the idea of the earth revolving around the sun was considered and it wasn’t until the eighteenth century that people started to think that the universe was “infinite in time and space.”
Ethics is a strong topic among society today. What is important to some people may have little or no value to others. A person with a Christian worldview would base their ethical dilemma on their beliefs and the instructions that God’s word says. This paper will explain how Joni, who is living her life as a quadriplegic and desires to legally terminate her own life will see the way the Christian worldview bases this ethical dilemma on following the commandments given by God and which decision is correct for her. Ethical Dilemma
Almost all Americans have heard the phrase “separation of church and state.” However, fewer realize the magnitude of the phrase. Contrary to some people’s beliefs, the majority of the Founding Fathers were deists or had a belief in a God who created the universe but does not interact with it. They understood how religion could ruin governments and needed to be separated in their new nation. The Founding Fathers purposefully left out religion from all government documents and never mentioned the Bible or other religious text while creating the United States.
As I view my Christianity through a worldview lens, it confirms that when asking the question who am I, and what do I believe from an ontology framework, I can answer, I am made in the image of God with a free will to choose fellowship with my creator. Likewise, absolute truth can be determined by an epistemological framework where I can find purpose and meaning in glorifying God and to serve my fellow man. Lastly, absolute values are exhibited when I determine to intentionally uphold biblical values of love, justice, discernment of good and evil from an axiological framework (Valk,
Benchmark Assignment: Ethical Dilemmas Ethics are a key component of one’s worldview, and they guide moral behavior. (Hiles & Smith, 2014) For some worldviews, ethics are a matter of personal interpretations. However, for those who have a Christian Worldview, what is determined as ethical has been set by God and are not up for personal interpretation. (Stefan, 2008)
Introduction A worldview is a particular philosophy or conception an individual develops during one’s lifespan. A biblical worldview is beliefs and principles that are constructed from a biblical framework that help Christians navigate through a life of sin and should be integrated into the many facets of one's life, including personal and professional settings. Christians who attempt to separate their biblical worldview from different aspects of their life may struggle to hold firm in their Christian beliefs. The Bible says in James, “Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do” (James, 1:8, New International Version).
We are using the King James Version of the Bible for the courses here so that there will be continuity in what we read. I personally do not mind if students use another version for study; sometimes clarification will be made. I DO NOT recommend using the RSV (Revised Standard Version) as they have changed keys points of doctrine. That version substitutes the words ‘young woman’ for the word ‘virgin’ – a major difference! Any young woman can have a child in the normal way, but only a virgin could have The Child which was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Existentialism holds that "'authority' is found in individual freedom" (Modern Philosophies, n.d.). Student choice is essential in this school of thinking and learners play and active role in their education. Progressivism, like existentialism, sets its focus on the child. This theory supports the idea that students should have meaningful experiences to enhance learning (Cohen, 1999). It agrees which existentialism in that it believes students should have options and choice in education.
