Parenting has never been easy, and as any parent will admit, it is a very exhausting job. At the same time, parents often claim that it gives the greatest rewards in life. Good parenting is often thought that parents must be involved in the minutiae of their kids’ lives in order to be successful. However, the main goal of parenting is to produce worthy citizens who contribute to their fellow human beings, and it must be up to the individual parent(s) to decide what looks like.

Typically, when couples first start out together, according to Christina M. Gibson-Davis (2009), they don’t usually have a lot of financial resources. According to her “Money, Marriage, and Children” study (Gibson-Davis 2009), couples do not usually get married until after they have a good source of income and are financially well set up, complete with a house of their own. However, couples will have babies regardless of their financial situation, married or not (Gibson-Davis 2009). This could present a problem, should I encounter this before I am ready. Regardless of my financial situation though, I will teach my children the difference between needs and wants. However, I must point out that spanking was not allowed within that setting. That practice came from several of my friends who are successful parents. I listen well, and have helped a few people through some of their darkest moments, which will add well to my parenting skills. Having a thorough knowledge of psychological theories and concepts can help me adapt to the ever changing moods of children, and I can draw on these in almost any situation.
