Physical Abuse Of Brenda Floyd In The Washington Post

Another case concerning this topic was posted in the Washington Post dated January 28, 2017. This case spoke about caretaker Brenda Floyd who physically harmed her elderly client Dorothy Bratten. This 94-year-old Alzheimer’s patient lived in Memorial Village Texas. On January 1, 2017 Brenda Floyd was accused of physical abuse of this elderly individual. Dorothy Bratten’s children discovered strange bruising on their mother. When she was questioned about the injuries she could not tell them what caused her injury because of her deteriorating memory. Her children installed video cameras in her room and living areas to find out what caused her bruises. They were horrified on what was captured on tape. What was caught on camera (which went viral) was Floyd yelling at Bratten for placing food on the floor for the dog. She screamed at her repeatedly.

She denied this assault. Floyd became angrier and started physically and mentally abusing her. When the children saw this they were horrified. They trusted Floyd who had been their mother caretaker for three years. They stated that they treated her like a member of their family and even helped her find a car. The children contacted the police. Floyd left and went to an apartment in Houston, Texas. She was apprehended when the police received an anonymous tip because of the video that the Bratten family posted on YouTube. Brenda Floyd is now released on a bail of five thousand dollars.
